    Handige plug-in! Als we bijvoorbeeld een website ontwikkelen met Kadence, en een Flipbox nodig hebben, kunnen we deze plug-in gebruiken. Natuurlijk kunnen we ook Greenshift daarvoor toepassen, maar dan installeer je weer een complete builder plug-in erbij.

    Font Squirrel - Font Generator
    Font Squirrel – Font Generator heeft een grote collectie (meestal gratis) fonts / lettertypes. Deze zijn wel bruimbaar voor grafisch werk (het zijn ttf bestanden) maar vaak niet geschikt voor omzetting naar webfonts. Wat Font Squirrel – Font Generator echter heel goed doet, is de functie waarin je een font upload (vaak een ttf ofwel truetype file) bijvoorbeeld van Google fonts, en daar weer een web font van maakt, dus een woff of woff2 bestand. Een woff bestand is veel kleiner dan een ttf bestand en maakt je website dus sneller. Een woff lettertype bestand is gemiddeld 60 tot 80% kleiner.

    Google fonts lettertypes
    Google biedt een geweldige font collectie. Deze zijn bruikbaar voor grafisch (druk)werk en voor het internet. Deze zijn gratis beschikbaar. Als je een webbuilder gebruikt die Google fonts heeft geïntegreerd, hoef je niets te doen om deze fonts te gebruiken. Je kunt de fonts (lettertypes) ook downloden, meestal als .ttf bestand en deze hosten op je eigen server. Dat komt privacy misschien ten goede, maar de bestandsgrootte niet. Werken met de standaard manier van Google (aanroepen op een pagina) is bijna altijd de snelste manier, ook omdat Google het lettertype elke keer aanpast aan de vraag van de browser, en ongebruikte variaties niet meestuurt. Mooie animaties maken het verschil tussen een goede site en een perfecte site. Het thema heeft een ingebouwd animatieframework (slechts 2 kb groot)

    Voordelen Pro versie

    De gratis versie kan al heel veel. Ik denk dat er best veel mensen zijn die daar genoeg aan hebben. Ik gebruik regelmatig dynamische blokken, maak graag mijn eigen templates en gebruik WooCommerce. De betaalde versies bieden echt alles wat ik nodig heb. En de prijs is heel redelijk. Overigens is het aan te raden te kiezen voor het all-in pakket; daar zitten echt alle extra add-ons in die je maar kunt bedenken, terwijl de prijs aanzienlijk lager is dan de optelsom ervan.

    Conclusie

    Een absolute aanrader. Dit is één van de twee builders waar ik mee werk. Ook als je een andere builder gebruikt, bijvoorbeeld Kadence blocks, is Greenshift een echte aanrader als aanvulling.

It is my favorite (only) way to migrate a site or make a copy.

    Het is een pro service, dat betekent dat ze er vanuit gaan dat jij een pro bent; support over de server of een installatie die niet goed werkt geven ze graag. Een vraag over een plug-in of hoe maak ik een back-up is niet hun ding. Het is professioneel voor professionals. De prijzen voor deze echte superieure hosting zijn dan ook heel redelijk. Power hosting: 8gb snelle SSD opslag, 100,000 bezoekers/maand, cPanel, SSL certificaten, Gratis migratie, maximaal 5 sites: $ 25,- per maand. Monster hosting: 15 sites, 12 GB snelle SSD opslag, 300.000 bezoekers per maand kost $ 50,- per maand. Elk plan is inclusief gratis cache en snelheid optimalisatie voor 1 website.

    Conclusie

    Absolute aanrader. Ben je al zover dat je het aandurft je website(s) op een professionele server te laten draaien, dan is dit absoluut de beste keuze.

    Host de gebruikte Google lettertypen op de server en zorg dat de website voldoet aan de AVG. Ongeveer 50 miljoen websites maken gebruik van Google Fonts en in januari 2022 oordeelde een Duitse rechtbank dat het gebruik van Google Fonts een schending is van de Europese AVG (Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming). Daarnaast kost het tijd voor een browser om een lettertype te downloaden bij Google, en op de eigen server hosten kan je website een stuk sneller maken. Deze plug-in heeft meer dan 100.000 gebruikers.

Mijn.host is perfect voor kleine tot middelgrote bedrijven die op zoek zijn naar betrouwbare, snelle en betaalbare WordPress-hosting, met service door medewerkers die weten wat ze doen. Zelfs het verhuizen van je site naar hen doen ze voor je, als je dat niet zelf kunt doen.

    Voordelen Pro versie

    Al is hun goedkoopste optie wat basic, alles is pro. Ze bieden meerdere hosting pakketten; van 1 tot 5 of zelfs 10 websites op één account. De prijzen variëren van € 3,99 tot € 13,99 per maand. Daarnaast is het een geode partij voor het hosten van je domeinen, en ze hebben een degelijk e-mail hostingpakket. Als hun pakketten bieden: LiteSpeed cache, NVMe supersnelle opslag, gratis SSL-certificaat, onbeperkt dataverkeer, dagelijkse back-up, wildcard SSL, staging, subdomeinen en een WAF firewall. Als ik een nadeel moet bedenken, zou dat het feit zijn dat DirectAdmin en Softaculous niet tot mijn favoriete beheertools behoren, maar dat geldt helaas voor bijna alle hosting beheertools, niet alleen bij Mijn.host.

    Conclusie

    Mijn.host is een absolute aanrader. We zijn een tijd geleden met al onze sites naar hen verhuisd, en hebben nog geen moment spijt.
