    If you work with an FSE theme (the future of WordPress) this is an absolute must-have. What the plug-in ‘If menu’ does for the classic themes does this plug-in (and more) for FSE Block themes. Note: Not yet tested with the Kadence Navigation (ADV) Block.

    This plug-in adds extra custom fields to the WooCommerce Block Check-out (checkout form). It is not yet possible to adjust the names of existing fields, or target the invoice or address fields, but that depends on the restrictions imposed by WooCommerce. You can add a paragraph, image, or separation sign (the standard WooCommerce blocks). However, the plug-in is expanding the number of available options (fields) for the checkout form. Adding a new field is integrated in the block search bar. With Checkout Fields for Blocks, the following new fields (field types) are possible for the form. Text input – E -mail – number – URL address – Select – Select – Text box. You can also choose where you want to display the new checkout fields in WooCommerce: order confirmation, admin order, my account, order e-mail.

    Conclusie

    A very handy plug-in. Admittedly, it is not a Kadence Shop Kit, but this developer is one of the first to develop a good plug-in for the block version of the WooCommerce check-out page, while Shop-Kit still works on a Classic theme only. This recent plug-in therefore requires a block FSE theme. Highly recommended!

    Conclusie

    Een block thema dat ideaal is voor een WooCommerce online winkel, of een website die ook een Woo winkel heeft op dezelfde website. Aanrader.

    Webmasters erkennen het belang van het opnemen van content die een wereldwijd publiek aanspreekt en die de bezoeker in hun moedertaal aanspreekt. Slechts 27% van de internetgebruikers beheerst Engels. Bovendien bleek uit een onderzoek van Common Sense Advisory dat maar liefst 85% van de online shoppers alleen zou kopen van websites die de producten in hun eigen taal bespreken, ook als ze bijvoorbeeld Engels wel beheersen. Je kunt ook met code of door middel van een class aangeven dat bepaalde teksten of blokken niet vertaald mogen worden. LET OP: deze plug-in is nu eigendom van GTranslate. De functionaliteit is identiek, maar de widget die de talen toont is heel verschillend. Bij de gratis (ongecorrigeerde) versie, heb ik voorkeur voor deze (Google Language Translator) omdat dat meteen duidelijk is dat de site een live vertaling gebruikt, i.p.v. tevoren geschreven teksten.

    Voordelen Pro versie

    De pro versie (dan val je onder GTranslate) biedt nog betere automatische vertalingen aan, zorgt dat je vertalingen ook goed scoren met SEO en laat je de automatische vertalingen ook bewerken! Als je het belangrijk vindt dat zoekmachines je ook in de andere talen goed vinden, is de pro versie een vereiste. Het goedkoopste plan is € 95,- per jaar en geeft je één extra taal, bijvoorbeeld Nederlands en Engels.

    Conclusie

    Google Language Translator is een van de weinige plug-ins die je site multi-language maken, zonder een woord te hoeven vertalen. De meeste multi-language plug-ins vereisen dat je voor elke taal een aparte tekst ingeeft. Google Language Translator vertaalt zelf, op het moment dat de bezoeker de pagina opent en de taal kiest. Het nadeel is dat de vertaling kwalitatief soms wat minder is, al wordt dat elk jaar beter. Voordeel is dat het ‘live’ gebeurt, en dat je gewoon met één klik een taal kunt toevoegen.

    Voordelen Pro versie

    Het thema biedt weliswaar professionele mogelijkheden, maar is geheel gratis.

    Conclusie

    Als je een FSE thema zoekt, is dit een absolute aanrader. Ik heb er tientallen getest, en Greenshift steekt er met kop en schouder bovenuit. Onze website wpnews.nl is geheel gebaseerd op het Greenshift FSE thema.

    Als je besluit je hosting te verhuizen, kan dat je website betreffen, je e-mail of beide. Als je e-mail bij dezelfde hosting zit als je website en bij je nieuwe hosting ook, dan is de nieuwe hosting soms bereid om die ook voor je te verhuizen. Als je dat niet zijn, of je e-mail is ergens anders gehost, dan moet je de bestaande e-mails zelf overzetten. Dat is gelukkig heel makkelijk met deze (gratis) tool. Deze gratis tool wordt aangeboden door Vimexx.nl hosting. (1) Zorg dat je bij de nieuwe hosting e-mailadressen aanmaakt met exact dezelfde adressen. (2) Zorg dat je dezelfde forwards, aliases, autoresponders, handtekeningen, etc. creëert bij je nieuwe hosting. (3) DNS omzetten naar nieuwe hosting (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC). (4) wacht tot de DNS actief is (duurt 1-48 uur). (5) Migreer de e-mails. Tip: controleer eerst of je nieuwe hosting een ‘e-mail import tool’ heeft. Dan heb je deze Imapsync service misschien niet nodig.

    Voordelen Pro versie

    Deze service heeft geen pro versie. Er bestaat wel een betaalde online dienst die hetzelfde doet. Dat is MailJerry: https://www.mailjerry.com. Deze service is gratis tot een emailbox van 250 MB, daarboven heb je een abonnement nodig om e-mails over te zetten.

    Conclusie

    Absolute aanrader. Ik maak hier regelmatig gebruik van.

    LanguageTool taal correctie
    Tekst correcties terwijl je een WordPress pagina of post schrijft of bewerkt. LanguageTool ontdekt vanzelf in welke taal je werkt en geeft suggesties. De tekst wordt niet door de tool opgeslagen; je privacy wordt gerespecteerd. LanguageTool bestaat als: extensie voor je browser, bepaalde applicaties zoals Mail, word, Google docs, Gmail en nog veel meer. Daarnaast hebben ze ook een app voor je computer. Ik zelf maak dagelijks gebruik van de Chrome extensie. LanguageTool werkt fijn en kent zowel een ‘negeer’ functie, als een ‘toevoegen aan woordenboek’ functie. Zeker als je weet dat Google en Bing fouten in teksten niet op prijs stellen (dus slecht voor je SEO) is dit een handige en belangrijke tool.

    Voordelen Pro versie

    Naast de gratis versie is er ook een betaalde versie. Deze kent meer functies, zoals: Geavanceerde grammatica-, controle van interpunctie- en schrijfstijl. Tot wel 150.000 tekens per tekstveld, onbeperkte AI-gegenereerd herschrijven van zinnen, stijlgids, extensie voor Microsoft Word. LanguageTool kent meerdere premium plannen, voor een individu, teams, etc.

    Conclusie

    Als je een eenvoudige ‘corrector’ zoekt die niet stoort, eenvoudig uitgezet kan worden en zijn werk goed doet, raden we LanguageTool echt met liefde aan. De gratis versie werkt heel goed, maar als goede tekst je echt lief is en je het belangrijk vindt dat je taalgebruik echt klopt, ook qua grammatica, raden we de premiumversie aan.
