There are similar plugins, like MetaBox, Pods, Toolset, JetEngine, Voxel, ACPT and ASE, but so far ACF is a perfect and nice working plugin, which we work with ourselves very regularly. The free version is already sufficient for many websites. Note: if you start working with custom fields, you require a builder that supports Dynamic Fields.
